Following the running of Race 1, a protest was lodged by the Stipendiary Stewards against horse number 7, Flashman (RT May), placed 4th by the Judge, on the grounds of breaking from its gait in the run home, in breach of Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations.

--

--

The placings were: 1st - 8, 2nd - 12, 3rd - 3, 4th - 7, 5th - 9, 6th - 1.

--

--

The purpose of the enquiry was to establish if the breach occurred and, if so, to consider the question of disqualification or relegation.

--

--

Driver, Mr May, indicated to the stewards that he was representing the connections of Flashman, and he endorsed the Information that he did not contest the protest.

--

--

Explaining the circumstances, stipendiary steward Mr Ydgren referred to the video of the run home. He identified Flashman (RT May) inside the 200metre mark and breaking from its gait, and still in a break before recovering short of the line. This, he said, was well in excess of the 50metres as defined by the Breaking Horse Regulations, and he sought disqualification of the horse.

--

--

In this protest, which was not contested, the committee is satisfied that Flashman (RT May) broke inside the last 200metres and was out of its gait well in excess of 50metres and therefore in breach of Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations. The protest is upheld and, following submissions, Flashman is disqualified from the race. The amended placings are now:-

--

1. 8 Yankee Del

--

2. 12 Ruby N Diamonds

--

3. 3 Honey Beatt
