| -- An information instigating a Protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr T Taumanu against Horse number 6 Champagnat (driver Mr R Brosnan) following the running of Race 6 on the grounds that it breached rule 862(2) in that it failed to start from its correct barrier draw. ----Stipendiary Steward Mr Taumanu gave evidence and referred to a video recording of the Start which showed horse 6 Champagnat to drift from barrier six to approximately barrier 4 during the mobile start. He conceded that the horse started at the rear of the field and gained no advantage but had laid the information seeking a ruling. ----Mr Brosnan representing the connections of Champagnat gave evidence that the pace quickened immediately before the start giving him the impression that the race had commenced at which stage he had drifted from his barrier position ----Decision ----Although it was established that the horse Champagnat had drifted immediately prior to the start in doing so it had fallen to the rear of the field and not gained any advantage. ----Accordingly the Protest was dismissed and the judges placings stand. ------ -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
