Following race two an information was filed pursuant to Rule 530(3). The informant, Mr A Coles, alleged that Mr B Jones, trainer of LEVI AT LARGE, used a bridle that was in unsound condition.
--Mr Jones admitted the breach.
--Mr Coles explained to the Committee that the bridle was very dry and had broken prior to the start. This had caused a delay to the start.
--Mr Jones, in admitting the breach, had nothing further to add.
--PENALTY SUBMISSIONS:
Mr Coles submitted that a fine was appropriate and that should be $150.
PENALTY:
The Committee took into account Mr Jones’ guilty plea, but before imposing penalty explained to Mr Jones the need to keep all gear in top condition. It was lucky on this occasion the bridle broke prior to the race and not during the running.
The Committee believe Mr Coles’ submission on penalty to be appropriate and accordingly impose a fine of $150.
