Following the running of Race 5 an information was lodged alleging a breach of Rule 530 (2) (b) in that L.D.McGregor the rider of Catinsky used her whip in an excessive manner
| -- Following the running of Race 5 an information was lodged alleging a breach of Rule 530 (2) (b) in that L.D.McGregor the rider of Catinsky used her whip in an excessive manner prior to the 200 meter mark. --Ms McGregor admitted the breach and was present at the hearing. --Mr McCutcheon demonstrated the incident on the video which clearly showed Ms McGregor strike her horse with the whip some 17 times prior to the 200 meter mark. Ms McGregor had no comment to make regarding the film. --Mr McCutcheon had no record of Ms McGregor being charged with this offence prior to today but submitted that it warranted a term of suspension. Ms McGregor had no submissions to make regarding penalty but did confirm that this was her first offence under this rule. --When arriving at a penalty the committee took into account Ms McGregor's good record and her admittance of the breach however these were outweighed by the severity of the whip use which was well outside the recognised guidelines. Ms McGregor was suspended from the close of racing on Wednesday 14th September until the close of racing on Saturday 17th September, effectively two days. ---- Chairman |
