Young Stranger is disqualified from the race as, in breaking for in excess of 150m, it is in breach of Rule 870(3) and the relevant section of the Breaking Horse Regulations. The amended placings are:-

Authorisation is given to the payment of the dividends and stakes based on the amended placings above.
Facts:
Following the running of Race 5, the "Hits Handicap Trot", Information A7702 instigating a protest was filed by Co-Chief Stipendiary Steward Mr R Neal. The Information stated that "Young Stranger" broke for over 150m near from the 1400m point."
Rule 870(3) states:- "Any horse that breaks from its gait shall promptly regain its gait".
The Breaking Horses Regulations state:-"Any horse which breaks from its gait either at the start or during the running of any race and continues on in the break for a distance of 150m or greater, shall be deemed to be in breach of Rule 870(3) in that it has failed to promptly regain its proper gait."
Mr Grant, the trainer of "Young Stranger" did not attend the hearing as he had advised the Stipendiary Stewards after viewing the film of the race hat he did not contest the protest.

Using the side-on film Mr Neal highlighted "Young Stranger" travelling past the winning post with a lap to go. Shortly thereafter he said "Young Stranger" broke from its gait and continued galloping for a distance well in excess of 150m.
Reasons for Decision:
After reviewing the film of the race from approximately the 1500m mark the Committee notes that "Young Stranger" broke from its gait with approximately 1400m to run and continued on in a break for a distance in excess of 150m.
