The information alleged that co-trainer T Ebbett presented BELFAST LAD to race in bandages that were insecurely fastened.
Facts:
Mr Neal spoke for the stewards and told the committee that during race 3 the bandage on the near hind leg of BELFAST LAD unravelled as the horse came around the home bend. He played the video which clearly showed the bandage coming free and eventually falling from the leg of BELFAST LAD. The trainers of the horse had secured the bandages with elastiplast and had not been aware of the regulations that said bandages must be stitched securely in place.
Submissions for Penalty:
The co-trainer T Ebbett did not wish to be present during the hearing. Mr Neal put forward a submission on penalty for a fine of $100.00.
Reasons for Penalty:
The committee had regard to both the Stewards' submission and the trainer's admission of the breach.
