Following the running of Race 6, The Oaks Stud Manawatu Classic, Mr H.Tinsley was charged with careless riding under rule 871 (1) (d). The information alleged H.Tinsley the rider of Three Rings allowed his mount to shift outwards near the 200m when not clear of Petushki (S.Doyle) causing that runner to check.

--

--

Mr Tinsley admitted the breach.

--

--

Mr George asked Mr Goodwin to show the incident on the video. He showed Mr. Tinsley riding at the back of the field with Petushki to his outside. Mr. Tinsley was desperate to get a run and tried to do so by angling his mount outwards however he was not the required distance clear and caused Mr.Doyle to check his mount and lose ground.

--

--

Mr George produced Mr. Tinsley’s riding record which showed no charges in the last 12 months. He did say that it was a Group race and that the stewards recommend a suspension of four to five days and a $400 - $500 fine.

--

--

Mr.Tinsley told the committee that his mount was traveling very well and he was aware that Mr. Doyle’s mount was weakening. He underestimated the distance he was in front but asked the committee to take into account that his outward movement was a very gradual and slow one.
