Following the running of Race 5 Mr S.Doyle was charged under Rule 520 (4) (c) with failing to make the weight for Wai.

Following the running of Race 5 Mr S.Doyle was charged under Rule 520 (4) (c) with failing to make the weight for Wai.
--He admitted the breach and was represented by Mr.J.Wheeler.

Mr George told the committee that Mr Doyle had to be replaced as the rider of Wai due to him not being able to make the correct weight. He said that this was his first charge and that he recommends the penalty be a $100.00 fine.

Mr Wheeler said that Mr.Doyle was about a half (kilo) over and had been struggling with his weight for a while. He had been trying really hard to get down to the correct weight but when he realized that he wouldn’t make it he did ring and notify the trainer.

The committee had regard to all of the submissions put before it. Mr.Doyle has been honest and forthright about his weight issues and has an excellent record. The committee agreed with the stipendiary steward’s recommendation and fined him the sum of $100.00.
