Decision:
Following the running of Race 3, Mr R.Hannam was charged with careless riding under rule 871 (1) (d). The information alleged R.Hannam being the rider of Hell Yeah allowed his mount to shift outwards causing interference to Paca Paddy and Kategic near the 300 metres.

----
Mr. Hannam admitted the breach.
----
Mr. Goodwin asked Mr Davidson to show the incident by way of the films. He showed how Mr Hannam angled his mount outwards in the home straight forcing Paca Paddy out wide and Kategic who was trailing had to check.
----
Mr. Goodwin produced Mr Hannam’s riding record which read:
----
-16/11/07 Wellington 5 days suspension
--(There were no other charges in the previous 2 years.)
----
Mr. Goodwin said that Mr.Hannam was a busy senior rider and usually rides well within the rules however a suspension was warranted due to the nature of this interference and the fact that Kategic clipped heels which is quite serious. He suggested this was in the medium range and that a penalty of five days would be appropriate.
----
Mr. Hannam, while admitting the breach, showed the films again outlining how in his opinion Patrick Bell riding Kategic had contributed to the interference by letting his mount lug inwards. If Mr. Bell had kept to a straight line he would not have ended up behind Paca Paddy and would not have clipped heels.
