Following Race 7 an information was filed by Chief Stipendiary Steward Mr N.McCutcheon, against Mr J.Waddell, alleging that apprentice jockey J.Waddell misconducted himself after the winning post in that he deliberately directed his mount inward onto Imananabaa (C.Lammas) forcing that runner down towards the running rail causing the rider to take evasive action.
--After initially admitting the breach Mr Waddell requested that he change his plea to one of not admitting the charge. His employer, Mr J.Sargent, represented him.
--A hearing was opened into the charge but Mr Waddell requested an adjournment for the following reasons;
--- --
- It is a serious charge. --
- He felt tired after a busy days racing. --
- He was quite flustered and not ready to answer the charge. --
- He wanted time to be well prepared for the case. --
- He wanted legal representation.
- --
Mr McCutcheon had no objections to the charge being adjourned.
--The committee accepted Mr Waddell's submissions and adjourned the hearing to a non-race day at a date suitable to all parties, yet to be determined.
