Mr M Paris, represented by Miss N Chilcott, admitted a breach of rule 869 (3) (b) in that as the horseman of ‘Royal Mission’ in Race 8, he drove carelessly.
Submissions for Decision:
As the available films were shown and addressed in information number 11813, all parties agree they did not wish to revisit the films.
Reasons for Decision:
The films clearly showed the movement of ‘Royal Mission’ causing the interference.
Submissions for Penalty:
Mr Taumanu submitted that Mr Paris had not been charged under this rule before. He was a junior driver showing promise but did state that his actions resulted in a relegation and that it should be answered with a period of suspension.
Miss Chilcott had little to add but did agree with the suggestion from Mr Taumanu of a period of suspension for the breach.
Reasons for Penalty:
Mr Paris, in coming to our decision to impose a period of suspension for this breach we have taken into account your admittance and your record under this rule. Your actions did result in relegation and although you did attempt to straighten your drive it was too little too late.
