| -- Decision --Mr S. Butcher admitted a charge of careless driving under rule 869(3)(b) in relation to his drive on LOGDON in the Skywards Duty Free Mobile Pace. --LOGDON won the race but was relegated to sixth after having been found to have caused interference to ADVANCE ROCK shortly after the start. --Mr Butcher was assisted at the hearing by Mr T. Shaw. --The particular circumstances of this incident were canvassed in the Committee's earlier decision in relation to the protest. --On the issue of penalty Mr Taumanu noted Mr Butcher's standing as a junior driver and called for a suspension and fine in order to allow Mr Butcher to be available for the Wanganui meeting where, because of a clash with the first night of the Interdominions, a shortage of drivers was a potential threat to the viability of the meeting. --Mr Shaw supported Mr Taumanu's submission. --The Committee acknowledged Mr Butcher's record and viewed his carelessness as an uncharacteristic lapse in judgement. Pursuant to rule 1003 he is suspended from the close of racing on 20 February 2005 until the close of racing on 25 February 2005 and fined $100. ---- --
