| -- Decision --Mr Hollis admitted a breach of rule 869(3)(g) in relation to the manner in which he drove RARE REVIEW in the Beach Towel At Woodlands Stud Mobile Pace. The essence of the charge was that Mr Hollis miscounted the laps. --As the field entered the straight with a round to go Mr Hollis had RARE REVIEW in front. He drew the whip driving the horse clear of the field and then maintained that advantage with further use of the whip down the straight, taking the opportunity to look over his shoulder several times seemingly bemused at the benign manner in which his fellow drivers had handed the race up to him. The sound of the bell awoke him from his euphoria and he set about driving RARE REVIEW into second a lap later. --Mr Hollis was embarrassed and genuinely contrite about his mistake. --The Committee acknowledged this was an aberrant drive on the part an otherwise competent horseman. As to penalty a suspension would be the standard response but having regard to Mr Hollis' candour and RARE REVIEW?S ability to run a place the Committee accepts Mr Taumanu's recommendation for a fine and fines Mr Hollis $400. ---- -- --
