DECISION & REASONS:
--An information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr J Davidson under Rule 871 (1) (d) alleging Miss Jan Cameron , WINDSOR WHISPER, allowed her mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of GOLD GLOW, N Hanley, which had to check near the 250m mark.
--Miss Cameron admitted the breach.
--The Committee was shown several video clips of the alleged incident ? both front and side on.
--Mr George stated that Miss Cameron moved out without due regard to the improving horse, GOLD GLOW. Miss Cameron, in her defence, stated that WINDSOR WHISPER's forward movement was very quick, and although Nathan Hanley called out, she did not have time to react.
--In fixing penalty, the Committee took into account Miss Cameron's early guilty plea, along with her riding record over the past 12 months which showed one previous offence under this Rule at Banks Peninsula 21/05/06. Consideration was also given to the fact that Miss Cameron had the opportunity to ride at the next South Island meeting at Wingatui on 10 February which is one of the higher stakes meetings in the South Island over the Summer racing season.
--The Committee fined Miss Cameron the sum of $900.00.
