Stipendiary Steward, Mr P Knowles, alleged that with approximately 200metres to run CHAS LUNEY (AL Shaw) broke from its gait in excess of 50 metres and failed to return to its proper gait promptly.
| -- DECISION AND REASONS: --Stipendiary Steward, Mr P Knowles, alleged that with approximately 200metres to run CHAS LUNEY (AL Shaw) broke from its gait in excess of 50 metres and failed to return to its proper gait promptly. ----Video evidence was shown and Mr Knowles explained the Breaking Horse Regulation fully to Mr Shaw. He also showed the 20 metre apart poles and proved that CHAS LUNEY galloped for about 90 metres in the last 200 metres. Mr Knowles asked for relegation and not disqualification because the 5th horse CHAZ BRO had trotted all the way and all the others had galloped for considerable distances. Also CHAZ BRO had received interference from breaking horses late in the race. ----Mr Shaw agreed that his horse had galloped in the way described by Mr Knowles but felt he had done everything possible to return him to his gait. ----The Committee found that CHAS LUNEY did not return to his gait promptly as specified in the regulations and accept the recommendation that the horse be relegated to fifth rather than disqualified. ----Judge's Placings: 10 ? 11- 6 - 3 ? 2 ? 9 --Amended Placings: 10 ? 11 ? 6 ? 2 ? 3 - 9 |
