Mr Renault alleged that Mr Beck (SAINT TROPEZ) struck his horse free of the rein on several occasions.
Mr Munro identified the Respondent’s horse on the video and demonstrated that as the field rounded the bend into the home straight Mr Beck was urging his horse.
Mr Renault stated that Mr Beck crossed the reins. He used his whip on the tail of the horse and there was one backhander. He used the whip with one hand free of the reins for some distance, but the strikes were low end. He commented that the Respondent had come back to using a wrist action in the last 100 metres.
Mr Beck said he was trying to steer the horse. He had forgotten that he could no longer cross the reins. Once the horse had straightened, there was no issue with the horse, and he had used his wrist from that time.

Mr Renault produced the Respondent’s record which was clear under the whip Rule. Mr Beck has had 91 drives this season and 178 the last. Mr Renault described the breach as low end.
Mr Beck did not disagree with this.
