1st - Damit Invasion
2nd - Bet Online
3rd - Zimple
4th - Saffron Castleton
5th - Tuxedo Junction
Authorisation was given for dividends to be paid on the amended placings.
Facts:
Following the running of Race 4, the Mitavite Handicap Trot over 2700m, an Information was lodged instigating a protest against the horse SAFFRON CASTLETON driven by Mr Z Butcher which finished 2nd. Stipendiary Steward Mr J Muirhead alleged that the horse was in a gallop over the finishing line and was 'lapped on' by the horses BET ONLINE which finished 3rd and ZIMPLE which finished 4th.
The trainer of SAFFRON CASTLETON Mr W Taylor indicated that he did not wish to contest the protest by noting that on the Information.
The judges placings were:

Mr Muirhead identified the horse SAFFRON CASTLETON on the available video. It was clear that the horse had gone off-stride within the last 50m of the race and had galloped to the finishing line. Mr Muirhead pointed out that the horses BET ONLINE and ZIMPLE were 'lapped on' within the provisions of Rule 870(5) as the horses passed the finishing post. He sought the relegation of SAFFRON CASTLETON to 4th position behind those two runners.
Reasons for Decision:
The protest was not contested and it was clear that the relevant Rule had been breached.
