Following the running of Race 10 Mr J.Parkes was charged with careless riding under rule 871 (1) (d).
Following the running of Race 10 Mr J.Parkes was charged with careless riding under rule 871 (1) (d). The information alleged J.Parkes allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of MITZI which hampered ISTIDAADSUE onto the heels of SIZZLE and ISTIDAADSUE had to be checked.
--Mr. Parkes admitted the breach and was represented by Mrs Karen Zimmerman.
--Mr Ray (Stipendiary Steward) pointed out the incident on the available films. He demonstrated Mr Parkes, who was racing down on the fence in the home straight, angle out looking for a run when not clear to do so. As he moved out he hampered MITZI ridden by Sam Fieldes who in turn was forced onto ISTIDAADSUE ridden by Patrick Bell. As a consequence Mr Bell was forced to check his mount off the heels of Chris Johnston.
--Mr Goodwin produced Mr Parkes' riding record which showed:
--Feilding 3 days 6/11/07
--Wanganui 3 days 24/6/07
--He submitted that the careless riding charge today warranted a term of suspension.

--Mr Parkes told the committee that he has rides at Otaki on Thursday November 29th and at Wanganui on Saturday December 1st. In response to a question from Mr Castles he stated that he only rides in the Central District region.
--In coming to a decision on penalty the committee considered all of the submissions put before it including:
--- Mr Parkes’s good riding record
--- his admittance of the breach
--- that two horses were affected
--Mr Parkes is suspended from riding from the conclusion of racing on Saturday December 1st until the conclusion of racing on Thursday December 13th – in effect 3 Central District riding days.
