Following the running of Race 4, a protest was lodged by the stipendiary stewards against horse number 9, TATOO (Ms A Tomlinson), placed 5th by the Judge, on the grounds of causing interference to horse number 10, THEGIFTOFLIFE(R Holmes),
Following the running of Race 4, a protest was lodged by the stipendiary stewards against horse number 9, TATOO (Ms A Tomlinson), placed 5th by the Judge, on the grounds of causing interference to horse number 10, THEGIFTOFLIFE(R Holmes), placed 7th, with approximately 350metres to run.
----The placings were: 6 - 13 - 7 - 12 - 9 - 3.
----Ms Tomlinson, acting as agent for the connections, did not contest the protest and she endorsed the Information accordingly.
----Describing the incident that promulgated the enquiry, Mr Escott referred to the video of the race. It showed that with about 350metres to go TATOO (Ms Tomlinson), on the outside, broke and moved in and onto THEGIFTOFLIFE(R Holmes), causing that horse to also break. No other horse was inconvenienced, and TATOO recovered to finish in 5th place.
----At this time, due to the absence of the photofinish, there was a brief adjournment whilst the Judge’s completed placings were confirmed.
----Decision:
----This was a protest against horse number 9, TATOO, driven by Ms A Tomlinson, on the grounds of interference to THEGIFTOFLIFE. The incident was described by the stipendiary stewards and clearly highlighted by the video, and was not contested. The committee is satisfied that the interference was caused by TATOO. The protest is upheld, and TATOO is relegated from 5th to behind the affected THEGIFTOFLIFE.
----The placings are now:
