Submissions as to penalty were heard. Mr Ching said Mr Bullard struggles with his weight. In this case he was 1 kg over – he could have ridden at ½ kg over, under the rule. He was replaced by Miss K Williams.

His record this year : 16.09.07 $250 fine 06.11.07 $800 fine.

He had been warned previously and took a 3½ month break to stabilise his weight.

Mr Ching asked for a fine.

Mr Bullard said he spoke to Mr Ching during the week and told him he had pulled a neck muscle, which had complicated his weight control. He would prefer a suspension of 3 days, which would enable him to work on his weight and allow him to ride in the White Robe Classic on 2 February 2008. Mr Ching said he had no problems in agreeing to that.
