Decision: Mrs Stevenson admitted a breach of R 869(2) in that she saddled ISTIGOLD with the incorrect saddlecloth and presented the horse at the plate inspection pad.
Mrs Stevenson admitted a breach of R 869(2) in that she saddled ISTIGOLD with the incorrect saddlecloth and presented the horse at the plate inspection pad. She indicated she did not wish to be present at the hearing. We find the charge proved.

Mr Davidson stated that Mrs Stevenson had had 2 horses in the race and was in a rush as she was saddling the two herself. She had mistakenly picked up the wrong saddlecloth number from the steward.

Mrs Stevenson has an excellent record, with only a minor breach some 7 years ago and no previous breach of this rule. Mr Davidson has indicated that the matter is at the low end of the scale and has asked for a fine of around $100. We agree. Taking into account Mrs Stevenson’s record and ready admission of the breach, we impose a fine of $100.
