At the conclusion of Race 6, the Peter Redman Memorial Mobile Pace, under Rule 869 (8), a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr N G McIntyre alleging that interference by FIERY RASCAL affected several runners, the worst affected being HEZE COURAGE which placed 7th.
At the conclusion of Race 6, the Peter Redman Memorial Mobile Pace, under Rule 869 (8), a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr N G McIntyre alleging that interference by FIERY RASCAL affected several runners, the worst affected being HEZE COURAGE which placed 7th.
Mr McIntyre began by stating that the connections of FIERY RASCAL (No. 3) did not wish to contest the protest. Mr McIntyre used video film to highlight the alleged interference, stating that FIERY RASCAL ran greenly, moved outwards and slowed thereby checking several horses, the most affected being No. 13, HEZA COURAGE.
Mr Cox, driver of FIERY RASCAL, confirmed this, stating that his horse moved outwards on the turn and attempted to move towards the exit; in doing so, his horse checked horses in the immediate vicinity.
DECISION
The Committee upheld the protest, confirming that interference did take place. The Committee decided to relegate FIERY RASCAL (no. 3) to 7th placing; the amended placings being :

2nd 16 CHAY BROMAC
3rd 15 PRATTLE ON
4th 10 MATAI LAD
5th 2 ARTISON
