An information instigating a protest lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr J Muirhead against KING CHARLIE driven by Mr A Neal, placed 4th by the judge on the basis that it broke from its gait free of interference and galloped for about the last 70m of the race.
--Mr Neal, on behalf of the connections of the horse, endorsed the information ‘I do not contest protest’ and told Mr Muirhead he did not wish to be present at the hearing.
--Mr Muirhead demonstrated the incident by use of the video film. KING CHARLIE, when leading, broke free of interference and galloped the last 70 m. In accordance with the Breaking Horses Regulations I disqualified KING CHARLIE, the final placings then being :

--2nd FAYANNI
--3rd AUZZIE INVASION
--4th KEN
--5th EASY GOLD
