Following the running of Race 4, the Vital Stock Foods Trot, a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr P Knowles into the 5th placed horse NICOLE CRUISE, number 1, on the grounds that NICOLE CRUISE broke from its gait and continued on in a break for a distance of 150 metres or greater, in breach of Rule 870 (3). Mr Knowles also sought disqualification of NICOLE CRUISE under Rule 1003 (2).
--Mr Knowles showed video footage where NICOLE CRUISE was seen to gallop at about the 800 metre mark and continued to gallop for the remainder of the event.
--Mr Robertson stated that his horse was fresh and he couldn't hold her after it broke. Accordingly the protest is upheld and horse NICOLE CRUISE is disqualified.
--Amended placings are :
