The information alleges that M Gillies rode carelessly when he allowed his mount to shift inwards near the 800 metre mark forcing YAMANAURA (R Eynon) onto GITANA (R Lockett) who was checked.

Mr Gillies was present at the hearing and admitted the breach.

The Committee were shown films of the alleged incident which clearly showed the breach, as recorded on the information.

Mr Gillies did not wish to question the Steward who demonstrated and interpreted the films nor did he wish to give his interpretation of the films shown.

Mr Goodwin when asked did not have any record of Mr Gillies being charged under this rule, it was his opinion the breach was not of a minor nature and warranted a term of suspension.

Mr Gillies asked for a deferral of any suspension that may be given him till after racing on 22 May 08.

The Committee had Mr Gillies confirm that he only rides in Jumping Races and Heighweights.

When arriving at a penalty the Committee took into account Mr Gillie’s good record and the fact that he had admitted the breach.
----
Mr Gillies may ride until the conclusion of racing on the 22 May 08 and is then suspended until the conclusion of racing on the 4th June in effect 3 days at which he could be riding namely:
--Feilding Meeting 29th May Heighweights
--Auckland 2nd June Jumping Races
--Rotorua 4th June Heighweights
