Following race 2 a protest was filed pursuant to rule 876.1 when it was alleged by the informant Mr O Bosson, rider of the 2nd horse, FANTASTIC FLIGHT, that the first horse APATCHEE TUTE interfered with his chances in the final straight.

Following race 2 a protest was filed pursuant to rule 876.1 when it was alleged by the informant Mr O Bosson, rider of the 2nd horse, FANTASTIC FLIGHT, that the first horse APATCHEE TUTE interfered with his chances in the final straight.
--Present at the inquiry was Mr O Bosson, rider of FANTASTIC FLIGHT, Mr R Norvall, rider of APATCHEE TUTE, and the trainer of that horse Mr A Pringle.
--All connections were advised of the protest.
--Mr Bosson demonstrated the video films and showed where he had come from behind the first horse to make his run when his line was taken through the outward movement from that runner. He stated he was moved out 2 horse widths and lost momentum. He also said that as there was only a nose margin at the post this interference cost him the race.
--Mr R Norvall, rider of the winner APATCHEE TUTE, conceded his horse rolled out but said at no time did Mr Bosson stop riding.
--Mr Coles when asked for his interpretation of the incident said that Mr Bosson initially moved in approximately 1 to 1 ? horse widths. He said there may have been slight contact between the two horses when Mr Norvall moved out approximately 1 ? horse widths. He also said that the first horse came from behind after the incident and had his doubts whether the placings had been affected.
--DECISION :
--The committee considered all the evidence and reviewed the video films again. Whilst we found that the 2nd horse suffered slight interference from the winner, APACHEE TUTE at approximately the 200 metre mark, we do not believe its chances of finishing in a better place were affected.
--It is relevant in our decision that the first horse came from behind the second horse after the interference and that Mr Bosson rider of FANTASTIC FLIGHT did not stop riding at any stage. It was really no more than a brush he received from the winner.
--Accordingly the protest is dismissed and the judges placing shall stand.
