Following Race 1 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 530 (2) (b) by the informant Stipendiary Steward Mr A Coles. He alleged that Mr A Tata, rider of HUDSON BAY, used his whip in an excessive manner.

--Mr Tata admitted the breach.
--Assistant Stipendiary Steward Mr M Williamson demonstrated the video films and showed Mr Tata striking his horse approximately 15 times between the 400 metres and 200 metres, without giving his mount the required respite of 6 strides.

PENALTY
--Mr Coles produced Mr Tata’s record which showed his last charge under this Rule was in April 2006. He submitted a suspension of 4 days was appropriate.
--The Committee clarified Mr Tata’s commitments in the next 7 days which revealed he had no firm commitments. Before imposing penalty the Committee reminded Mr Tata of his obligations under the whip Rule.
--We impose a suspension to start after racing today the 9th of July and conclude after racing on the 18th of July 2008 (4 days).
