Prior to race one an information was filed pursuant to Rule 520(4)(c). The informant, Mr J Oatham, alleged that Mr L Innes, the declared rider of THE CHIFNEY RUSH in race two was unable to make the carded weight.

Prior to race one an information was filed pursuant to Rule 520(4)(c). The informant, Mr J Oatham, alleged that Mr L Innes, the declared rider of THE CHIFNEY RUSH in race two was unable to make the carded weight.
--Mr Innes admitted the breach.
--Mr Oatham told the Committee that Mr Innes was one kilo over the carded weight of 54 kilos and informed the Stewards of this 15 minutes before the first race. Mr Innes said he had purchased scales recently and they were incorrect which he only discovered when he reached the races.
--PENALTY SUBMISSIONS:
Mr Oatham said Mr Innes had an excellent record under this rule, but on this occasion Mrs Tanner, trainer of THE CHIFNEY RUSH, was assured by Mr Butch Castles, agent for Mr Innes, that the carded weight would be no problem. Mr Oatham submitted a fine in the range of $150 - $250 would be appropriate.
Mr Innes reinforced to the Committee that his scales were at fault and asked that his excellent record be considered.
--PENALTY:
The Committee considered all submissions, particularly Mr Innes’ record. Accordingly we impose a fine of $150.
