Following Race 9 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 869 (2). The Informant Mr Coles alleged that Mr P Rodewald, trainer of TOP RODE in Race 9 omitted a towel when saddling the horse. The horse ran 4th and was subsequently disqualified.

Following Race 9 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 869 (2). The Informant Mr Coles alleged that Mr P Rodewald, trainer of TOP RODE in Race 9 omitted a towel when saddling the horse. The horse ran 4th and was subsequently disqualified.
--Mr Rodewald admitted the breach.
--Mr Coles said that on weighing in Miss Collett was found to be 0.75 kilos under weight. She said that she weighed out with gear including a towel but found this was missing when weighing in.
--Mr Rodewald, in pleading guilty, said there were 2 people saddling the horse and somehow the towel was omitted when saddling up.
--PENALTY SUBMISSIONS
--Mr Coles said Mr Rodewald had been fully co-operative and had pleaded guilty. He submitted a $500 fine would be appropriate.
--PENALTY
--The Committee considered all submissions and before fixing a penalty took into account Mr Rodewald’s guilty plea and his co-operation with Stewards. The Committee reminded Mr Rodewald of his obligations telling him the seriousness of the charge if the horse had finished in a dividend bearing place.
--Accordingly we impose a fine of $500
