Central Otago RC – 30 December 2007 – Race 6
ID: JCA22967
Hearing Type (Code):
harness-racing
Decision: --
Mr Khairil admitted a breach of rule 520(4)(c) in race 6 in that he failed to make the weight for STREET KING by being unable to claim his allowance down to his riding weight of 52 kg.
--
Mr Khairil admitted a breach of rule 520(4)(c) in race 6 in that he failed to make the weight for STREET KING by being unable to claim his allowance down to his riding weight of 52 kg. We thus find the charge proved.
----Mr Davidson outlined the circumstances of the matter and indicated that Mr Khairil rode at 1 kg over as no other apprentice was available. He asked for a suspension as Mr Khairil had been fined $300 and replaced on his mount at Winton on 21 September last when overweight.
----Having regard to Mr Khairil’s record and his admission of the breach, we agree that a suspension is appropriate in this instance. Mr Khairil has rides at Waikouaiti. He is suspended from riding at the end of that day up to and including 5 January 2008. This is 2 South Island days. The committee is satisfied that the stewards and Mr Khairil have discussed the issue of Mr Khairil’s weight and have a plan in place in order to endeavour to prevent future breaches of this rule.
