Just before Race 10 at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting on Saturday 4 April 2009, it was discovered that K Myers, Licensed Jockey, had weighed out without a stirrup iron and leather on her saddle, and as a consequence, had to re-weigh.

Just before Race 10 at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting on Saturday 4 April 2009, it was discovered that K Myers, Licensed Jockey, had weighed out without a stirrup iron and leather on her saddle, and as a consequence, had to re-weigh.
--The lack of a stirrup iron and leather was discovered by a trainer’s assistant, and as a consequence the saddle and associated gear was sent back to Ms Myers. Some lead was removed from the lead bag, and Ms Myers re-weighed.
--Fortunately, this was discovered prior to the start of the race.
--However, Mr Ching placed emphasis on the fact that this was an omission on Ms Myers’ part and not a deliberate act.
--Ms Myers admitted the breach of the Rule, and indicated on the Information that she did not wish to be present.
--Mr Ching called for a fine of between $150 and $250. He confirmed that she had not been charged with this kind of offence before, and that she had, generally speaking, had a good riding record.
--In the circumstances, a fine of $150 is considered appropriate, and that is the penalty imposed.
