An information was filed by Stipendiary Steward, Mr S C Ching, against Licensed Trainers, Mr E W & Ms J J Rayner alleging a breach of Rule 302 (5) (a) in that the person leading WOLF PACK, trained by them, into the birdcage prior to Race 1, Racecourse Hotel & Motor Lodge Sydenham Hurdles, “was not a registered person as required by NZTR rules”.



DECISION AND REASONS:

An information was filed by Stipendiary Steward, Mr S C Ching, against Licensed Trainers, Mr E W & Ms J J Rayner alleging a breach of Rule 302 (5) (a) in that the person leading WOLF PACK, trained by them, into the birdcage prior to Race 1, Racecourse Hotel & Motor Lodge Sydenham Hurdles, “was not a registered person as required by NZTR rules”.

Rule 302 (5) (a) provides as follows:

--

Every person holding a Trainer’s Licence . . . must apply, in the prescribed form, to register every person employed by him or her, or who assists him or her, with the training or care of racehorses, whether as a Stablehand (riding) or as a Stablehand (non-riding).

Defendant, J J Rayner, had signed the Statement by the Defendant on the information form to the effect that she admitted the breach and, further, that she did not wish to be present at the hearing of the information. The breach was found proved accordingly,

Mr Ching informed the Committee that the Rayners had not previously breached the Rule. He recommended a fine between $75 and $125.

--

Having regard to the Defendants’ admission of the breach and their previous good record, the Defendants were fined the sum of $100.
