Decision:
Following Race 2 an Information was laid by Stipendiary Steward Mr T TAUMANU lodging a protest, alleging that Horse 1 SEA SPRAY DARLING crossed the finish line in second place having broken from its gait in breach of Rule 870 and been lapped on by Horse 15 IWI TROUBLE placed third by the Judge.

Following Race 2 an Information was laid by Stipendiary Steward Mr T TAUMANU lodging a protest, alleging that Horse 1 SEA SPRAY DARLING crossed the finish line in second place having broken from its gait in breach of Rule 870 and been lapped on by Horse 15 IWI TROUBLE placed third by the Judge.
--Sea Spray Darling was represented by Trainer Mr P Blanchard and part owner and driver Mr V Blanchard.
--The relevant rules were read and video footage of the concluding stages of the race were shown. This clearly showed Sea Spray Darling to have broken clear of interference short of the line and to continue across the line without regaining its proper gait. In doing so it was lapped on by Iwi Trouble (N Molander).
--Trainer Mr Blanchard elected not to challenge the protest.
--The committee being satisfied that the breach had occurred and that Sea Spray Darling had been lapped on upheld the protest.
--Accordingly pursuant to Rule 870 (5) Sea Spray Darling is relegated to third place immediately behind Iwi Trouble
--The Judges placings are amended as follows:
