Facts:
An information lodging a protest into the running of Race 6 was lodged by Stipendiary Steward, Mr J Muirhead, after horse 1 Dougie Maguire broke at the start of the race and failed to regain its gait within 150 metres, in breach of Rule 870 (3) and the Breaking Horse’s Regulation.
The Judges placings were

5th - 2 Underwood Road

Submissions for Decision:
Trainer Mr G Small appeared for the hearing on behalf of the connections and after viewing video footage of the race elected not to contest the protest.
Video footage clearly showed the horse to break from the 2700 metre standing start and gallop for about 160 metres before regaining its gait. Dougie Maguire finished in 4th place and the Stipendiary Steward sought its disqualification.
Reasons for Decision:
Dougie Maguire had clearly broken from its gait at the start and continued to gallop for about 160 metres in excess of the stipulated maximum.
