--Following race 2 an Information lodging a Protest was laid by Stipendiary Steward Mr J MUIRHEAD against Horse 9 Sandstorm placed 4th by the Judge on behalf of the connections of Horse 1, Flaming Fuel, placed 5th by the Judge on the grounds that it broke just short of the finish line and was lapped on as it crossed.
--The protest was not contested by the Trainers P & M O?Brien and the information was endorsed to that effect on their behalf by Driver Mr P Fergusson.
--Evidence adduced by Mr Muirhead with reference to Video tapes of the concluding stage of the race clearly showed Sandstorm breaking free of interference approximately 10 metres short of the winning post and continuing beyond.
--The margin between fourth and fifth being ? length the Horse was clearly lapped on and relegation was sought.
--Decision.
--Horse 9 Sandstorm was relegated to finish behind Horse 1 Flaming Fuel.
--Amended placings are
--1st 5 SAXON LASS
--2nd 8 MUSKET COVE
--3rd 3 RUNNING WITH FIRE
--4th 1 FLAMING FUEL
