Decision: An Information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr TW Taumanu against Trainer Mr C Butler alleging that Mr Butler failed to ensure that the hopples on his horse Cloneen were of good quality
RACE NO: 8 INFORMATION NO: 67069 RULE NO: 864(2)(b)
----
--
An Information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr TW Taumanu against Trainer Mr C Butler alleging that Mr Butler failed to ensure that the hopples on his horse Cloneen were of good quality and as a result the hopples broke shortly after the start.
----
Rule 864(2)(b) provides “every Horseman, Owner, Trainer and Assistant thereof of a horse shall with regard to that horse ensure that any gear, appliance or device used in a race is of good quality and in good order and condition.”
----
Mr Butler admitted the breach and did not wish to be present at the Hearing.
----
Mr Taumanu demonstrated the incident by use of the video film and this clearly showed the inside or nearside front hopple on Cloneen coming adrift and as a result the carrier strap was flapping around for a considerable distance and the hopple loop dropped and caused Cloneen to break during the running.
----
Taking all matters into account I impose a fine of $200.00 on Mr Butler.
