A protest was laid by Stipendiary Steward Mr T TAUMANU against Horse 1 MIGHTY CREATION (G SMALL) placed 5th by the Judge on the grounds that it broke approximately 200 metres after the start and gained an advantage when it galloped inwards over the marker line for approximately 60 metres there fore travelling a shorter distance and thereby gaining an advantage over the other runners.

Mr Small trainer/driver endorsed and signed the Information indicating

Video footage clearly showed Might Creation to break free of interference and move inside the marker line on the bend just after the start of Race 8. He continued inside the marker line in a gallop around the bend for approximately 60 metres.

Mr Taumanu contended there was no fault on the part of the driver but the horse had clearly gained an advantage running a shorter distance in the mile race than other runners. Mighty Creation was placed 5th in a six horse field.
