An Information instigating a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr T.W. TAUMANU following the running of Race 9. It alleged that Horse 1 SUNOVER DOVER (Driver T.MACFARLANE), placed second by the Judge, had broken and galloped over the finish line being lapped on by Horse 5 MOUNTAIN WOMAN (driven by T HERLIHY).
----Mr R Darby and Mr MacFarlane appeared to represent the connections of Sunover Dover. Mr Darby endorsed the information confirming he did not contest the protest.
----Video footage of the concluding stages confirmed that SUNOVER DOVER had broken from its gait inside the final 50 metres of the race and galloped accross the finish line being lapped on by MOUNTAIN WOMAN, clearly in breach of Rule 870(5).
----Accordingly pursuant to Rule 869(8) SUNOVER DOVER is relegated to third place and MOUNTAI WOMAN is promoted to second.
----The Judges placings are amended as follows
