An Information was laid by Stipendiary Steward Mr T Taumanu alleging Driver Mr R Te Puni drove carelessly in Race 5 when CLASSIC VICOLO struck the wheel of VILLAGE ROMANCE (N Chilcott) in the run home
--Mr TePuni admitted the breach and elected not to be present for the hearing.
--Stipendiary Steward Mr J MUIRHEAD gave evidence and referred to video tapes of the concluding stages of the race, which clearly showed
--Classic Vicolo running into the rear of Miss Chilcott's sulky, breaking up and taking no further part in the race.
--Mr Muirhead in mitigation said that Mr TePuni readily admitted his fault. He drove very rarely and appeared to have had a lapse in concentration on this occasion. There was nothing adverse on his driving record
--Taking into account the relevant submissions the suggested penalty of a $200 fine was imposed
