Prior to Race 1 Licensed Trainers Ms N White and Mr L Callaway were charged by the Stewards for failing to scratch two horses before the advertised scratching deadline for the meeting. The information alleged that TAP’N’GO (Race 3) and ANDALE ANDALE (Race 4) were late scratched and in breach of r 534 (1). Mr Callaway admitted the breach and did not appear at the hearing.
Mr Oatham stated that the club secretary received the scratchings for both horses approximately 15 minutes after the deadline. Mr Callaway had told Stewards there was a miscommunication between himself and Ms White which had led to the scratching error.
Submissions for Penalty:
Mr Oatham said Ms White and Mr Callaway had a clear record and no runners in either race were denied a start. He sought a fine of $150.
