An information was lodged by Stipendary Steward Mr T Taumanu, pursuant to Rule 858 (a) & (b), against Trainer Mr D Douglas, on the grounds that he was late presenting ?Shiney Blue Chip? into the assembly area
An information was lodged by Stipendary Steward Mr T Taumanu, pursuant to Rule 858 (a) & (b), against Trainer Mr D Douglas, on the grounds that he was late presenting SHINEY BLUE CHIP into the assembly area and onto the track (4 Minutes) prior to race time.
----Mr D Douglas did admit the breach of this rule.
--Mr D Douglas was present at the hearing.
----Mr T Taumanu was concerned that the horse was not presented for public to view, owners not getting a fair preliminary, the horse not able to be warmed up sufficiently. In Mr T Taumanu's opinion, the horse was about to be a late scratching due to the very late presentation.
----Mr D Douglas said it is the first time he has been charged under this rule and he was stabled 400 metres away and had no person to assist him, although he was expecting his driver to be at the stables.
----In summing up, Mr T Taumanu advised Mr D Douglas that he needed to take steps to be on time and that Stipendary Stewards have the power to scratch the horse due to its late arrival.
----In respect of penalty, Mr T Taumanu recommended a $200 fine.
----The Judicial Committee considered all of the evidence given and found that the charge had been proven and accordingly imposed a fine of $150 on Mr D Douglas.
