--The connections of MR MAHARG did not contest this protest and were not present at this hearing. Mr Taumanu sought relegation of MR MAHARG to 4th place under the provisions of Rule 870 (5).

Decision And Reasons.
--Having viewed the photo finish of this race and also the video, it is clear that MR MAHARG was in its incorrect gait as this horse crossed the finish line and was lapped on to STAR RUNNER DEE therefore being in breach of rule 870(5).
--As the connections did not contest this protest, the protest is upheld and I order that MR MAHARG be relegated to 4th place behind STAR RUNNER DEE, this horse now being promoted to 3rd place. The amended placings shall now read, 1st No 16, 2nd No 11, 3rd No 8, 4th No 15, 5th No 5, 6th No 6.
