Following the running of Race 5, Shadbolt & Taylor Mobile Pace, an information was filed by Chief Stipendiary Steward, Mr N R Escott, instigating a protest against LIVE BASICALLY (K M Barron), placed 4th by the judge, on the ground of breaking from its gait "just prior to the post" and being lapped on.
----Mr K M Barron, the Trainer/Driver of LIVE BASICALLY, had endorsed and signed the information form: "The horse is lapped on". He was not present at the hearing of the protest.
----Mr Escott showed a video replay replay of the concluding stages of the race. He pointed out LIVE BASICALLY break from its gait prior to the finishing line, not in its correct gait when its nose reached the finishing line and being clearly lapped on by the horse placed 5th by the judge, DREAMAWAY VOGUE.
----On the basis that Mr Barron did not contest the protest and on the basis of the video evidence, the protest was upheld and LIVE BASICALLY was relegated to 5th placing and DREAMAWAY VOGUE was promoted to 4th placing.
----The amended placings for the Race are therefore as follows:
--1st 11 ALMA MIA
--2nd 3 LIVING BLUE BOY
--3rd 5 LIFE GOES ON
--4th 6 DREAMAWAY VOGUE
--5th 1 LIVE BASICALLY
