--
DECISION AND REASONS:
--Following the running of Race 4, Wigram Lodge Junior Drivers Mobile Pace, an information instigating a protest was filed by Stipendiary Steward , Mr N M Ydgren, against CRONADUN
--(A E Veint), placed 3rd by the judge, on the ground of breaking from its gait and crossing the line when not in its correct gait and being lapped on by SIR ARTSPLACE (D J Dunn), placed 4th by the judge.
----Mr A D Stuart, trainer of CRONADUN, was present at the hearing of the information. He indicated to the Committee that he did not contest the protest.
----Mr Ydgren showed a video replay of the concluding stages of the Race. He pointed out CRONADUN break from its gait just short of the post, cross the finishing line in 3rd place, still in a gallop, and being lapped on by the 4th horse, SIR ARTSPLACE. The official margin between 3rd and 4th was 0.7 length. A photo-finish of the Race was also produced which confirmed the video footage.
----The Committee was satisfied, on the basis of the evidence, that CRONADUN had broken from its gait just prior to the finishing line, that it was still in a gallop when its nose reached the finishing line and that it was lapped on by the 4th horse, SIR ARTSPLACE. Furthermore, Mr Stuart did not contest the protest.
------
Accordingly, the protest was upheld and CRONADUN was relegated from 3rd to 4th. Consequent upon the relegation, the amended placings for the Race are as follows:
----1st 2 Eastwood Fire
--2nd 1 Inisheer
--3rd 14 Sir Artsplace
--4th 8 Cronadun
--5th 4 The Summer Rainbow
