Decision: --
Following a protest and relegation, Mr Gillies admitted a breach of Rule 871 (1) (d) ? Careless Riding ? in that he permitted his mount FLIGHT FIGHTER to shift inwards near the 100 metres
--
DECISION & REASONS:
--Following a protest and relegation, Mr J Gillies admitted a breach of Rule 871 (1) (d) ? Careless Riding ? in that he permitted his mount FLIGHT FIGHTER to shift inwards near the 100 metres when not sufficiently clear of SISTER VERONICA, ridden by Mr L Macfarlane, who was tightened.
--Mr Coles made submissions on penalty in that Mr Gillies had been given a warning recently, but otherwise has a good record. However, as a relegation had occurred a suspension was warranted.
--Mr Gillies made a submission that he had been asked to ride a jumper at the Gore meeting for Kelly Thompson.
--The panel took these submissions into consideration and suspended Mr Gillies from the conclusion of racing on Saturday 28th April until the conclusion of racing on Saturday 5th May 2007. This for Mr Gillies was effectively a 3 day suspension.
