Following race 4 an information was lodged by Stipendary Steward Mr A Coles pursuant to Rule 520(4)(c) when he alleged that defendant D Stackhouse was unable to claim his 3kg allowance for the horse MANACOURT.



Following race 4 an information was lodged by Stipendary Steward Mr A Coles pursuant to Rule 520(4)(c) when he alleged that defendant D Stackhouse was unable to claim his 3kg allowance for the horse MANACOURT.

Mr Stackhouse, who was represented by Mr G Richardson, admitted the charge.

Mr Coles outlined the charge in saying that Mr Stackhouse could make the carded weight but could not take advantage of the 3kg allowance that bettors would have expected him to. He also said that this was Mr Stackhouse’s 2nd offence in a month. He asked for a fine of $150 - $200.

Mr Richardson said that Mr Stackhouse was an honest fellow who had spent 3 hours in the sauna to try to shed excess weight. He also said that he was upset with the trainer for engaging Mr Stackhouse when he new that he would not have been able to take advantage of his full allowance. Mr Stackhouse was under a misapprehension that he did not have to be able to claim his full allowance if the parties connected with the horse agreed.

 The committee would normally impose a $200 fine but in this case they feel that there are mitigating circumstances and therefore the fine will be $150. Mr Stackhouse can is also warned that he cannot not expect such leniency in the future.
