--An information instigating a protest lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr J Muirhead on behalf of BELLAMS LAST PLAY placed 5th by the Judge, against CREAM OF THE CROP placed 4th by the Judge, under Rule 870 (4) on the grounds that CREAM OF THE CROP broke free of interference about 10m from the finishing line and was not in its proper gait when its nose reached the finishing line and was lapped on by BELLAMS LAST PLAY.
--Mr B Hacket on behalf of the trainer of CREAM OF THE CROP, Ms M Wallis, endorsed the information ?I do not contest protest?.
--Mr Muirhead demonstrated the incident by use of the video film. CREAM OF THE CROP broke free of interference and was clearly lapped on by BELLAMS LAST PLAY.
--In accordance with the provisions of the Rule CREAM OF THE CROP was relegated to 5th place and BELLAMS LAST PLAY promoted to 4th place. The Judge's placings thus being :
