Information 66211 alleged a breach of Rule 869(2)(C) by horseman P.C. Nairn the driver of INSIST in Race 6 for using his whip outside the sulky during the run home. Mr Nairn admitted the breach and indicated that he did not wish to be present at the hearing.
----The incident was demonstrated on video by Stipendiary Steward T.W. Taumanu who pointed out the whip action by Mr Nairn as he drove the horse on the outside towards the winning post using a sideways motion that could have caused problems if there had been any horses in close proximity. He also pointed out that in excess of 20 strikes had occurred during the run home which was outside the guidelines. However, Mr Nairn had a very good record having not previously offended and having admitted the breach, Mr Taumanu recommended that a fine of $200.00 would be appropriate.
----The Committee accepted Mr Taumanu's recommendation and ordered that a fine of $200.00 be imposed.
