| -- Following the running of race 3, an information was lodged instigating a protest, the judges placings were 1st No 9, 2nd No 8, 3rd No 7, 4th No 4, 5th No 5, 6th No 10. --This was a protest against horse No 4 Mr Strikemaster on the grounds of breaking from its gait under rule 870 (3). --Mr Van Kan alleged that Mr Strikemaster broke and failed to regain it's correct gait promptly, galloping in the vicinity of 70 meters in the home straight. --The connections of Mr Strikemaster did not contest this protest and were not present at the hearing. --Mr Van Kan sought disqualification of Mr Strikemaster from its 4th place. --Decision And Reasons --This judicial committee finds that Mr Stikemaster was in breach of rule 870 (3), by being in it's incorrect gait over the concluding stages of race No 3 and as the connections of this horse did not contest this breach of the rules. --We order that Mr Strikemaster by disqualified from 4th place in this race under the provisions of rule 1003. --The amended placing shall now read 1st No 9, 2nd No 8, 3rd No 7, 4th No 5, 5th No 10, 6th No 2. |
