Following Race 4 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 871 (1) (d). The informant, Chief Stipendiary Steward Mr C George alleged that Mr Du Plessis allowed his mount FOURWINNERS to shift inwards near the 100 metres when not sufficiently clear

Following Race 4 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 871 (1) (d). The informant, Chief Stipendiary Steward Mr C George alleged that Mr Du Plessis allowed his mount FOURWINNERS to shift inwards near the 100 metres when not sufficiently clear of CAPE FEAR (M Coleman) who was checked.
--Mr Du Plessis pleaded guilty to the charge.
--Mr George demonstrated the video film, which the committee had reviewed several times during the previous protest. He showed Mr Du Plessis was not the required distance of Mr Coleman when he moved inwards and took his line.
--Mr George produced Mr Du Plessis' record showing 2 infringements in January. He believed a suspension of 4 - 5 days was appropriate.
--Mr Du Plessis said he had no firm commitments and asked for the suspension to start immediately.
--The Committee considered all submissions and before imposing a penalty considered the following :

- Mr Du Plessis' record. --
- His guilty plea. --
- The degree of interference caused.
Accordingly, we suspend Mr Du Plessis from the conclusion of racing today the 8th of March up to and including the 16th March 2008 (5 days).
